Scoonie Penn and Michael Redd are as good as any guard tandem in college basketball. Redd is very athletic, left-handed scorer, who is more of a slasher. Penn runs the show. He is more of a scoring point guard, while Mateen Cleaves is more pure point guard.

When Jim O'Brien put George Reese in the starting lineup, it gave the Buckeyes a big boost. Playing more minutes, he has really been an effective player for them. He plays in the Adrian Dantley mold; he's perhaps not as good a shooter as AD, but he can score inside. He has big shoulders and a good body.

Ken Johnson set the Big Ten record for blocked shots this season and is a defensive force. Last year when the Buckeyes made a run into the Final Four, Johnson scored a little bit inside. He will need to do it again, or it will be their Achilles' heel. Scoring inside is not their forte. Penn, Redd and Reese generate the bulk of their points on the outside.

The Buckeyes will have some problems because when the offense bogs down and they can't get out in transition, they will have trouble getting some inside baskets. I don't know if they can get back to the Final Four. They were hoping Slobodan Savovic could shoot the ball for them, but he has been hurt. They have enough inconsistencies that would force me to question their ability to get to Indianapolis. -- Quinn Buckner, ESPN
