Lamar is the only .500 team in the tournament (15-15) and a surprise to have even made it to the Southland Conference final, let alone win the title. It's a nice story; the Cardinals are what Championship Week is all about.

Mike Deane, who coached at Marquette, employs a smash-mouth, hard-nosed style, and his best player is Landon Rowe. But for Lamar, getting to the tournament is its championship.
