DePaul Blue Demons
RECORD: 21-12 COACH: Pat Kennedy | SEASON RESULTS | SEASON STATS
OUTLOOK
  • First round: Lost to Kansas, 81-77

    Get the Coach's Edge

Let the experts at Coach's Edge get you ready for the NCAA Tournament with an inside look at the DePaul playbook.

There's no question that DePaul has terrific, young starting talent. With Quentin Richardons, Bobby Simmons, Paul McPherson, Rashon Burno and Lance Williams, the Blue Demons can match up with anybody.

They fall off a bit in terms of talent and effectiveness when they go to their bench. I'm not sure that the Blue Demons' depth is that strong. I feel like Pat Kennedy did a good job coaching these young players. He had players coming back that everybody thought would run away with it. They didn't perform well early, but they came on later. He developed Steven Hunter at center, and Kerry Hartfield turned out to be a decent backup. Hunter, who is a shot blocker, could be the key to the club.

The Blue Demons are a good transition team. They run the floor well with their great individual talent. DePaul was also the leading rebounding team in the conference. What they need to guard against in the tournament is too much individual play and not enough team play. With a break, I think DePaul can get to the round of 16. -- Larry Conley, ESPN
