Three Questions for 2001-02
1. Overall, the talent has to be better for the Seminoles to be more competitive. Florida State hasn't been able to get its full compliment of players on the court in any given recruiting class. If they can end this trend, then Florida State has a shot to move up in the standings.
2. Inside scoring has been a problem of late. The interior isn't too strong, or at least dominant, in the ACC. The opening is there if the Seminoles had someone who could consistently finish.
3. Other than Arrington, who will be the big-time ACC player. They need someone else to stand up and demand the ball. Florida State needs more of a 1-2 punch to be competitive.
Three Key Facts
1. The 2000-01 Seminoles were the first team in the program's 49-year history to lose at least 20 games in a season. It was FSU's third of three straight losing seasons under Steve Robinson, who enters his fifth season in charge at Tallahassee.
2. Delvon Arrington earned his fifth season of eligibility, which is good news for the Seminoles, who'll get their leading scorer and assist man back. Rodney Tucker and guard J.D. Bracy also return after being ineligible last season. Experience won't be a problem, as FSU returns 10 players who say plenty of PT last season.
3. Freshman forward Michael Joiner started all 30 games for the Seminoles and was the team's leading rebounder.
Andy Katz's Scenarios
Best case: Finish seventh in ACC and hover around .500.
Worst case: They finish dead last and the heat is really on in Tallahassee.
