LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) _ Tony Rock banked in a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left to give Utah State a 52-50 victory over Southern California on Wednesday in the fifth-place game of the Maui Invitational.

The Aggies (3-1) had led for most of the second half until Brian Scalabrine's 3-pointer with 2:34 remaining gave Southern California (2-2) a 50-49 lead.

Utah State came up empty on its next two possessions and the Trojans misfired on one in between. Southern California's Brandon Granville was fouled with 41 seconds left and missed the front end of a 1-and-1.

Utah State called a timeout with 34 seconds left and the Trojans fouled nine seconds later, their last foul without the Aggies in the bonus.

Utah State worked the ball around for 15 seconds until Rock let go his shot from the left side that glanced off the backboard and in, his only 3-pointer of the game in three attempts.

Southern California called a timeout and Granville drove to the basket in a crowd and missed. There was a scramble for the ball as the buzzer sounded.

Troy Rolle led Utah State, which lost to No. 6 Florida 60-58 in the opening round, with 11 points, while Andre Mahorn had 10 and Rock nine.

Jeff Trapagnier had 19 points for the Trojans, while David Bluthenthal had 14 and Scalabrine 10. Granville, who set a tournament and school record with 15 assists on Tuesday, was 0-for-10 from the field against the Aggies but had 10 assists. He had 36 assists in the three games.

It was Utah State's first win over Southern California since the 1962-63 season and brought the Aggies to 8-6 in the series.

The win was even more impressive for Utah State, which was outrebounded 37-31, considering 6-foot-10 starting center Dimitri Jorssen, the only player on the roster over 6-7, sprained his ankle in Tuesday's game and will be out about four weeks.
