LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) -- Eric Chenowith had already heard the worst that Kansas fans could throw at him. This time, it was his turn to hear their cheers.

The junior center, booed after a four-point, three-rebound performance last Thursday in a 71-60 victory over Saint Louis, won his way back into the Jayhawks faithful's hearts Tuesday night with 14 points and three blocked shots in a 105-59 victory over Pennsylvania.

"I was really embarrassed after that (Saint Louis) game. That hit at my pride," Chenowith said. "I've talked before about how much I love this university, and it's really disappointing when you give your heart and soul to something and people boo you."

Coach Roy Williams brought Chenowith in earlier Tuesday to review tape from the Saint Louis game, in which Chenowith had two late rebounds taken away.

"I told him he needed to start playing well, because I was thinking about putting someone else in there," Williams said. "I thought it was important to be straight with him -- I was thinking about shooting his rear end. I told him I was sticking with him, but there comes a time when everyone has to produce."

Chenowith was everywhere in a 19-0 second-half run that gave Kansas a 64-35 lead with just under 15 minutes remaining. He scored four points, blocked two shots and forced a 5-second violation.

"It's a great feeling, and I'm going to sleep better tonight," he said. "But I've got to put a whole season together."

Freshman Drew Gooden led the Jayhawks with 20 points and nine rebounds off the bench, shooting 8-for-12 from the field.

"Those four shots he missed, three of them he never should have taken in the first place," Williams said. "But that will come with experience. He was sensational for us off the bench."

Kenny Gregory also had 14 points for the Jayhawks (11-2), who shot 58 percent (42-for-72) from the field to just 36 percent (21-for-58) for the Quakers (3-5).

"We miss five of our last six shots and still shoot 58 percent," Williams said. "But I jumped on the guys at the end a little bit. You'd like to say it's OK (to miss those shots), but it's not."

Jeff Boschee hit two 3-pointers and scored eight of his 11 points during the Jayhawks' 19-0 run.

Kansas put together an even bigger run later in the game, scoring 22 straight over a 5½-minute span for a 93-47 lead with 7:01 to go. Gooden and Nick Collison, another freshman, scored five points each.

"You don't have enough timeouts" for situations like that, Penn coach Fran Dunphy said. "I'd like to have a dozen or so. And the clock goes so slowly. Hopefully, this will be the only time this happens all year."

Kansas also held Penn's Matt Langel scoreless in the second half, after Langel hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points before the break.

"Above all else, they outworked us, and that's something we take pride in," Langel said. "That hurt us."

Ugonna Ongweke led the Quakers with 14 points and Michael Jordan had 13.

Luke Axtell had 11 points for the Jayhawks, 3-0 in the series against Penn.

The Jayhawks committed four of their nine first-half turnovers in the first four minutes and trailed 14-9 with 13 minutes left in the half. Kansas took the lead for good with an 18-6 run over the next five minutes, capped by Marlon London's two free throws for a 27-20 lead with 8:05 remaining.

Jordan's basket with 4:10 left in the half cut Kansas' lead to 33-30, but Gooden scored eight points in a 10-3 run that gave Kansas its first double-digit lead. Nick Bradford's free throws with .4 of a second left made it 43-33.

The Jayhawks committed just three turnovers in the second half while Penn finished the game with 20. The Quakers also gave up 12 steals and Kansas had a 27-11 advantage in assists -- six each by Gregory and Bradford and five by freshman Kirk Hinrich.
