ATLANTA -- Darryl Norwood hit a grand slam in the seventh inning and East Carolina eliminated Georgia Tech, the national No. 3 seed, 10-3 at the Atlanta Regional.
Norwood's 14th homer of the season capped a five-run inning for the Pirates (34-26-1). Glenn Tucker (5-4) pitched 8 1-3 relief innings and allowed six hits and struck out six.
The Yellow Jackets (44-18) lost two in a row at home in the regionals after reaching the College World Series last year for the first time since 1994. Stetson 9, East Carolina 4 Andy Wilson went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Stetson eliminated East Carolina 9-4.
John Destefano went 3-for-5 with a homer for the Hatters (41-23), who must beat South Carolina (41-20) twice Sunday to advance to the super regionals.
Stetson used a six-run second inning to jump out to a 7-0 lead against the Pirates (34-27-1), who beat host Georgia Tech in the first elimination game. South Carolina 7, Stetson 2 Landon Powell had a career-high four hits, including a home run and two doubles, and Steven Tolleson drove in two runs as South Carolina beat Stetson. David Marchbanks (14-2) went the distance and gave up two runs on 11 hits for the Gamecocks (41-20). Rusty Beale had three hits for the Hatters.
Tallahassee Regional
The Seminoles (52-11-1), the No. 1 national seed, has to beat South Alabama (42-17) twice Sunday to advance.
Johnny Defendis had three RBIs for Rutgers (37-22).
South Alabama 8, Florida State 6
The Jaguars (42-17) rallied from a 5-3 deficit and moved within one victory of advancing to a super regional for the first time in school history.
Florida State (51-11-1) was trailing 3-1 and scored four runs in the top of the eighth, but South Alabama scored five times against closer Daniel Hodges (5-2).
Rutgers 8, Jacksonville 5 The Scarlet Knights (37-21) blew a 4-0 lead as Jacksonville (32-30) had scored twice in the fifth and three times in the sixth. But Frazier hit a run-scoring sacrifice fly and Esposito hit a two-run homer as Rutgers took control with a four-run seventh. Rutgers' Graig Badger reached base five times and scored two runs. He also stole three bases to become the school's all-time single-season leader with 40.
Coral Gables Regional
Garza was 5-for-5 and tied an NCAA postseason record with six runs scored, and Rose hit a grand slam and had seven RBIs for the Gators (36-20-1), who take on Miami (41-14-1) on Sunday.
Derek Hutton homered twice and had six RBIs for the Owls (47-16).
Miami 1, Florida Atlantic 0 Cockroft (11-2) faced just one batter over the minimum and had eight strikeouts and three walks for the Hurricanes (41-14-1), who had their first postseason shutout since 1998. Randy Beam (13-2) gave up one run on five hits in the loss for Florida Atlantic (47-15).
Florida 8, Bethune Cookman 6
With Florida (35-20-1) trailing by two, Barton squared to bunt on the first four pitches, but swung at the 3-1 pitch and hit his fifth home run of the season. Mario Garza added a two-run homer in the seventh as the Gators snapped a three-game postseason losing streak at Mark Light Field.
Sebastien Boucher hit his first home run of the season for the Wildcats (30-28).
College Station Regional
Brad Sullivan, Travis Tully and Stuart Musslewhite hit consecutive run-scoring singles in the fifth inning as Houston (34-28) sent 11 batters to the plate and broke it open with five runs. The Cougars have to beat Texas A&M twice Sunday to advance.
Travis Garner was 3-for-6 for Alabama (38-24).
Texas A&M 16, Alabama 5
The Aggies (45-17) scored 10 runs in the first two innings to put it away early. Brian Finch (6-1) allowed four runs and 10 hits in seven innings.
Ryan Beagle and John Marshall hit solo home runs for Alabama (38-23), which plays Houston in an elimination game later Saturday.
Houston 4, Oral Roberts 2
Farrington went 3-for-4, and Hyung Cho was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Cougars (33-28). Ryan Wagner (5-5) picked up the win after entering the game in the eighth inning and allowing three hits and one run.
Matt Vanderbosch was 4-for-4 for Oral Roberts (41-20).
Hattiesburg Regional
The Golden Eagles (47-15) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first on homers by Jeff Cook, who hit his school-record 23rd, King and Jarrett Hoffpauir. Southern Miss has to beat Baylor twice Sunday to earn its first trip to a super regional.
Rickie Weeks, projected to be one of the first players taken in the major league draft Tuesday, went 0-for-4 in what was likely his last game for Southern (47-7).
Baylor 10, Southern 4
Joey Mouton's RBI single with two outs in the sixth tied it at 3 for the third-seeded Jaguars (47-6). But Griffin's homer off Emary Frederick (1-2) gave Baylor a 4-3 lead.
Rickie Weeks, the nation's leading hitter, was 1-for-4 with an RBI single and two steals for the Jaguars.
Southern Mississippi 18, Murray State 0
Cliff Russum allowed six hits in his second shutout and fourth complete game of the season for the Golden Eagles (46-16). Matt Shepherd, Jarrett Hoffpauir and Jeff Cook hit two-run homers for Southern Miss.
Craig Ringwald six runs, four hits and walked two without getting an out for the Thoroughbreds (25-31).
Auburn Regional
Karl Amonite hit a two-run homer for the Tigers (42-20), the No. 4 national seed, who led 11-0 after five innings, including a four-run fourth. Auburn can advance to the super regionals with two wins over Ohio State (43-19) on Sunday.
Clemson (39-22) had its string of 17 40-win seasons snapped.

Mike Madsen (8-1) allowed two runs and eight hits in 8 1-3 innings for the Buckeyes (43-19).
Scott Shade homered for Auburn (41-20), the No. 4 national seed.
Clemson 7, Princeton 6
With runners on first and second with no outs in the bottom of the 10th, McCann stabbed Andy Salini's hard liner out of the air and fired to second base for a double play. Matthew Becker then grounded weakly to McCann to end it, giving Clemson (39-21) the win. Princeton (27-23), the Ivy League champion, fell to 2-15 in the NCAA tournament.
Starkville Regional
Steve Gendron went 4-for-4 with two runs scored for Mississippi State (42-19-1), which had 18 hits and has to beat North Carolina twice Sunday to advance to the super regionals.
Ryan Rallo had a home run and three RBIs for the Tigers (36-22).
North Carolina starter Adam Kalkhoff allowed two runs on three hits and four walks and lasted just five outs, but Matt Danford pitched 6 1-3 innings of solid relief for the Tar Heels (41-21).
Brad Corley had a two-run single for Mississippi State (41-19-1).
Missouri 13, Middle Tennessee State 7
Danny Hill (5-2) struck out 11 and allowed five runs and seven hits in 7 2-3 innings for Missouri (36-21).
Brett Carroll had three hits, including two homers, and four RBIs for Middle Tennessee State (33-27).
Houston Regional
Wichita State loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth on a double by Bryan Erstad, a single by Shawn Smarsh and an intentional walk to Nick Blasi. After a groundout that forced Erstad out at home plate, Moffitt hit a fly ball to center to score Smarsh.
The Shockers have to beat Rice (50-10) twice Sunday to advance to the super regionals. Rice 10, Wichita St. 1 Chris Kolkhorst hit a go-ahead three-run homer and had four RBIs as Rice cruised past Wichita State.
Jeff Niemann (15-0) gave up one run on three hits in seven innings for Rice (50-10). He struck out 10 and walked two and retired 12 straight hitters before giving up a seventh-inning double to Cody Clark.
Bryan Erstad hit an RBI single in the first for Wichita State (48-26).
Mississippi 7, McNeese 1
Head (4-1) struck out seven and walked two in his second complete game of the season for the Rebels (35-26).
McNeese State (31-30) took a 1-0 lead in the third after Lance Dawkins led off with a double and scored on a throwing error by catcher Charlie Waite but it was all Mississippi after that.
Baton Rouge Regional Trailing 8-7 in the 10th, Chip Grawey tied it with an RBI single for the Seahawks (40-22), who are making their first appearance in the regionals and advanced to Sunday's championship round against LSU.
Brian Bormaster's RBI double in the 10th had given Tulane (44-19) the lead.
LSU 13, Tulane 5
Ivan Naccarata went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer, and Ryan Patterson was 4-for-6 for LSU (42-19-1).
Wes Swackhamer hit his second homer in as many games for Tulane (44-18).
UNC-Wilmington 12, Northeastern 6
Wright, Jamie Hemingway, Matt Sutton and Brad Denson each had three hits as the Seahawks (39-22) used 17 hits in beating Northeastern (27-24).
Chris Emanuele homered for the Huskies, who made their first trip to the regionals since 1997 but haven't won an NCAA tournament game since 1974.
Lincoln Regional
Alex Gordon and Daniel Bruce also homered, and Jake Mullinax was 4-for-6 with three RBIs for the Huskers (46-17), who advanced to Sunday's regional final against Southwest Missouri State (37-23).
Ryan Goleski drove in a run on a groundout for Eastern Michigan (33-28), which made its first regionals appearance since 1982.
Southwest Missouri State 4, Nebraska 2
Ziegler (11-1), who gave up five hits, left after giving up Brandon Fusilier's leadoff double in the seventh inning. Marcum earned his 13th save, allowing one hit in three innings.
Nebraska (46-17) plays Eastern Michigan (33-27) later Saturday in an elimination game. The Huskers had 20 hits in a 16-11 first-round victory over the Eagles.
Eastern Michigan 9, Coastal Carolina 8
Eastern Michigan (33-27) led 8-1 before Coastal Carolina (45-18) scored seven runs -- all with two outs -- to tie it. Mike Costanzo hit a two-run double in the Chanticleers' surge.
Ryan Goleski homered for Eastern Michigan.
Tempe Regional
UNLV lost to the Aggies on Friday morning, then beat Central Connecticut State 22-3 Saturday morning to earn a rematch after NMSU lost to Arizona State.
New Mexico State's Billy Becher drove in four runs with a single and double, finishing the season with 118 RBI to tie Florida State's Frank Fazzini (1985) and LSU's Brandon Larson (1997) for sixth place in Division I history.
Pinch-hitter Buck Barton hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning for the Aggies, and Beau Blacken and Hal Bisnett had two RBI each.
Arizona State 15, New Mexico State 0
Andre Ethier hit a two-run single in the seventh to give the Sun Devils (52-12) a 3-0 lead. In the ninth, Arizona State sent 18 to the plate and scored 12 runs -- 10 off A.J. Jacquez.
UNLV 22, Central Connecticut State 3
The Rebels (46-16) scored eight times in the fourth, four in the fifth and 10 in the sixth and set school postseason records for runs, hits (25) and margin of victory.
Patrick Holden and Dan Tarnowski drove in runs for the Blue Devils (31-17-2).
Stanford Regional
Bolinski (10-1) struck out five and walked two, and Adam Tidball and Ben Zeskind each drove in two runs for Richmond (48-14), which advanced to the regional final against Stanford.
Tony Festa had two hits for the Highlanders (41-17), who in their second year in Division I were playing in their first regional.
Stanford 13, UC Riverside 6
Chris Carter and Ryan Garko also homered for Stanford (43-15). John Hudgins (10-3) survived a shaky start and struck out a season-high 12 to win his third straight start.
Brian Steinmeyer and Ryan Harvey homered for Riverside (41-16), which plays Richmond in an elimination game later Saturday.
Richmond 5, Illinois Chicago 0
McGirr (10-1) threw his first shutout of the season and fourth complete game for Richmond (47-14).
Brad Ryan had three hits for Illinois-Chicago (39-18), who were playing in the NCAA regionals for the first time.
Wilson Regional
McDowell (7-2) struck out seven and walked three and didn't allow a hit until Eric Latura led off the ninth with a single. The Catamounts (43-20) scored their runs on a single and two errors by VCU (46-12) in the fifth and Brian Sigmon's sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Western Carolina will have to beat North Carolina State twice Sunday to advance. WILSON, N.C. -- Justin Riley hit a game-winning home run in the 10th to lead North Carolina State past Virginia Commonwealth 4-3.
Colt Morton hit a pair of homers -- one in the sixth and a 450-foot blast two innings later that tied it 3-3 for the Wolfpack (44-16).
Jeff Parrish hit two home runs off N.C. State ace Vern Sterry to give the Rams (46-12) the early lead.
Western Carolina 9, Le Moyne 5
Josey (7-2) struck out three and walked one in his second complete game of the season for the Catamounts (42-20).
Kyle Brown and Andre Enriquez homered for Le Moyne (33-17), which was in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1989.
Long Beach Regional
Dowling (7-2) allowed one unearned run in 6 2-3 innings in his first start of the season, and Trent Baysinger and Will Fenton finished up for Washington (42-17), which will play Long Beach in the regional final on Sunday.
Jon Becker had two hits and an RBI for Minnesota (40-22).
Long Beach St. 7, Washington 2
Weaver (14-3), the brother of New York Yankees pitcher Jeff Weaver, struck out six and walked one for the 49ers (40-18). Josh Buhagiar's RBI single in the seventh broke a 2-2 tie.
Minnesota 7, Pepperdine 5
Trailing 5-2 heading into the ninth, Sam Steidl hit an RBI single, Ben Pattee and Luke Appert followed with back-to-back RBI doubles to tie it for Minnesota (40-21). Welch and David Hrncirik then hit RBI singles to give coach John Anderson his 800th victory.
David Uribes had two hits and two RBIs for Pepperdine (36-24).
Fullerton Regional
The Irish (45-17) will play Cal State Fullerton in the regional championship game Sunday.
San Diego (31-30) loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but Joey Prast hit a liner back to the mound that deflected off J.P Gagne's glove and rolled to third baseman Matt Edwards, who stepped on the bag to end it.
Cal St.-Fullerton 4, Notre Dame 3
With the game tied 3-3 and a runner on second, Prettyman sent a 1-0 pitch from Irish closer J.P. Gagne (4-6) into the gap in right-center field to give the Titans (45-13) the go-ahead run.
San Diego 5, Arizona 2
Tony Perez went 3-for-3 with an RBI and pitched the last two innings to secure the win for San Diego (32-29) with his 13th save.
Jordan Brown and Brad Boyer had drove in runs for the Wildcats (35-23).
Austin Regional
Matt Gowan, who homered only once coming in, hit two home runs for Lamar (39-17), which advanced to the regional final against defending College World Series champion Texas.
Arkansas (35-22) left 16 runners on, including the potential go-ahead run at third in the top of the 11th.
Texas 7, Lamar 3
Huston Street, last season's College World Series Most Outstanding Player, pitched three scoreless innings for his 11th save for Texas (45-17).
Shaun Stanton was 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Lamar (38-17).
Arkansas 10, Bucknell 7
Nick Pitts and Scott Hode also had two RBIs each for Arkansas (35-21), which led 8-7 entering the ninth after Bucknell (27-26) scored five times in the eighth.
Ben Stoll went 3-for-5 with two RBI and Brian Hirschberg homered for Bucknell (27-26).
