Right foot dislocation rules out Kersey

SAN ANTONIO -- Jerome Kersey is joining Tim Duncan
on the San Antonio Spurs' sideline.
Kersey suffered a right mid-foot dislocation in Tuesday's 85-70
playoff victory over the Phoenix Suns and the veteran forward
will miss the rest of the playoffs, the team announced Wednesday.
The absence of Kersey and Duncan leaves the defending NBA
champion Spurs with just 10 healthy players. Duncan has missed
the first two games of the Western Conference first-round series
with torn cartilage in his left knee.
The 6-foot-7 Kersey suffered the injury in the third quarter. He
had two points and three rebounds in 11 minutes before
departing.
In his 16th season and second with the Spurs, Kersey, 37, averaged
4.5 points and 3.1 rebounds in 72 games. He had a handful of
starts as he helped fill the small forward position until Sean
Elliott returned from a kidney transplant.
Kersey has played for Portland, the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden
State, Seattle and San Antonio. A product of Longwood College
in Virginia, he entered this season with career averages of 10.8
points and 5.7 rebounds in 1,059 games.
Duncan is questionable for Game 3 on Saturday in Phoenix.
