Shaquille O'Neal is not the only All-Star on the Lakers hurting these days. Kobe Bryant, the league's leading scorer at 29.8 points per game, has been treated for a sore right shoulder. There is swelling inside Bryant's shoulder capsule and the rotator cuff is inflamed.

"We'll give him some time to rest and heal that capsule. It will come along with time, but it's going to take a little longer with as busy as he is right now," head coach Phil Jackson told the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday night. Bryant scored 47 points -- 23 on free throws -- in the victory, and he followed that with 24 points Wednesday in a loss at Minnesota.

Bryant said: "It's hurting right now. It's worse than it was before the game and during the game. I didn't think about it while I was taking shots. I just cleared my mind and went out there and played the game."

Bryant's shoulder pain has subsided somewhat recently, but he is also playing with bursitis in his left elbow.

O'Neal, who is out with plantar fascitis in his right arch, will undergo an MRI exam and a CAT scan on his right arch and see a foot specialist in Los Angeles on Thursday when the Lakers return from their three-game trip.

O'Neal has missed three games. He has received treatment for the injury and the pain that had run throughout his foot has now been localized in one area. However, that pain has not subsided, so the MRI and CAT scan will determine if anything has been missed.
