Carter might play next week

TORONTO -- Vince Carter, the NBA's No. 3 scorer, will miss at least one more game because of an injured tendon in his left knee.

Carter, who is averaging 27.5 points per game, won't play in Toronto's home game against the Los Angeles Clippers Friday night.

The Raptors' star didn't travel with the team on their two-game trip to Dallas and Charlotte, and Toronto lost both without him.

Carter was hurt during the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Chicago Bulls. While attempting a fadeaway jumper, he felt a twitch while in the air and landed awkwardly 3:09 into the game.

Doctors diagnosed it as "jumper's knee," or tendinitis.

On Saturday, Carter will travel to the University of North Carolina, where he'll have his No. 15 jersey retired. The ceremony will take place at halftime of the North Carolina-Kentucky game.

Carter will then rest the knee for two days.

Doctors will decide if he's healthy enough to join the team for its three-game road trip that begins in Utah Tuesday night.
