DENVER -- Denver Nuggets assistant coach John Lucas has
caught the attention of at least three NBA teams looking for a head
coach, The Denver Post reported Wednesday.
Lucas is among the candidates being considered by the Vancouver
Grizzlies, Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Clippers, according
to an unnamed NBA source cited by the Post.
"It is nice to be wanted, if that's the case," said Lucas, who
is interested in being a head coach again.
Denny McGowan, the Nuggets' vice president of basketball
operations, said he isn't aware of any NBA clubs seeking Denver's
permission to talk to Lucas.
The assistant coach, who has a year left on his contract with
the Nuggets, said he has had no formal talks with any teams and no
interviews have been scheduled.
Lucas had a combined 136-171 record in four seasons as coach of
the San Antonio Spurs and Philadelphia 76ers. | |
