"Corey Maggette has NBA tongues a-waggin' because of his tremendous upside. Maggette is a scary athlete who was best described to me as a "world-class athlete" when he was coming out of Fenwick High School in Chicago. Maggette does chin-ups on the rim and can finish with style and authority, often leaving onlookers stunned. If you're an NBA general manager with one of the top three picks, you have to carefully consider taking Maggette because he has electrifying talent and ability. Essentially, for just under $10 million, you get a shot at a Vince Carter/Dominique Wilkins-type leaper who could turn into a superstar. However, Maggette is not without questions, although most of them are a little nit-picky considering his potential. He does not have a consistent perimeter shot, but showed he could hit his line-drive jumper. He is not a great handler and does not make great decisions, but he was just a freshman playing on a veteran team that did not require his minutes. He was not a starter, but so what? He was better than the guy in front of him. The question I have with Maggette is, how does he perform under pressure? Maggette played all of about 20 minutes in college with the game on the line, and never had to take any meaningful shots. Almost every minute he was on the floor, his team led by at least double figures. He did not dominate in college, because he never had to. Could he have dominated as a freshman? We'll never know. I do know that I would hate to be the guy that passes on Maggette and has to explain it in five years." -- ESPN's Jay Bilas
