PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Allen Iverson watched as Charles Barkley's jersey was retired. Then he came within one assist of his first
triple-double and decided both were something he'd want to
accomplish.

"It looked like something I would definitely want to be a part
of," Iverson said in the locker room -- twice.
Iverson had 35 points and a career-high 11 rebounds to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 102-89 win over the Golden State Warriors on Friday night. Iverson had nine assists and got his fourth double-double of the season.
"I really wanted it because I never did it before," Iverson
said of the triple-double. "This was just a great all-around game.
"I think it all came together. Everything happened for Charles,
winning the game, winning our 50th game. It was just something I'll
cherish always."
Tyrone Hill scored a season-high 21 points on 9-for-10 shooting
and had 14 rebounds -- a performance that coach Larry Brown called
"phenomenal" but which Hill didn't really want to talk about.
"This is my 11th year and I don't pay attention to numbers. I
just want a ring," Hill said.
The victory gave the Sixers 50 wins for the first time since
1989-90, when Barkley played for Philadelphia.
Barkley's eyes watered as his No. 34 jersey was lifted to the rafters during halftime. Barkley, 38, becomes the seventh player in 76ers history to have his number retired, joining the ranks of Wilt Chamberlain and Julius Erving.
"This is the greatest night of my life and I'm so glad to be
sharing it here," Barkley said. "Philadelphia will always be a
special place for me. It's where my career started and where it
ended."
Antawn Jamison led the Warriors with 32 points. Vonteego Cummings had 16 points and 10 rebounds in a reserve role, while two starters were held scoreless.
"Allen Iverson put a show on," Warriors coach Dave Cowens
said. "Great players step up when they have to and that is what he
did tonight."
The 76ers led by as many as 12 in the first half, but were ahead by only five at halftime, 47-42.
Back-to-back 3-pointers by Jamison and Mookie Blaylock pulled
Golden State within one, 54-53, with 7:36 left in the third.
But Philadelphia went on a 17-2 run that included three
3-pointers by Iverson for a 71-54 lead. The Sixers did not let
their lead slip below 10 points the rest of the way.
At the end of the first quarter, Jamison surprised Matt Geiger on an inbounds pass with 12.7 seconds left when he bounced the ball off Geiger's back, grabbed it and dropped in a quick layup.
Game notes
Aaron McKie missed the game and was listed day-to-day after
spraining his right knee in Wednesday's 96-95 loss to Orlando. ...
The Warriors have lost to the Sixers seven straight times. ... The
76ers have lost six of the last eight games. ... Dikembe Mutombo had nine points and eight rebounds. Mutombo has failed to reach his NBA-leading 13.8 rebounds-per-game average in eight of the past 10 games.
