MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Glenn Robinson stopped the Milwaukee Bucks from making the same mistakes again. Robinson scored 13 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter as the Bucks beat the Miami Heat 93-85 Sunday night. The Bucks beat a division leader for the fourth time in their last six games.
"I told the guys on the bench that it was up to me to make a couple of shots and win this for us," Robinson said. "We haven't done well with big leads this year, but tonight needed to be different." Ray Allen added 22 for the Bucks, who blew a big early lead, just as they did earlier this month in home losses to Detroit and Denver. But this time, Robinson wouldn't let Milwaukee lose the game. Robinson, who was supplanted by Allen as the Bucks' leading scorer last week, hit 5-of-8 shots in the fourth and sealed the win on a 20-footer with 1:15 to play that was the game's final field goal. Miami cut Milwaukee's 18-point lead to 74-72 with eight minutes left. "We just could not get one of those two guys under control," Miami coach Pat Riley said of Robinson and Allen. The win was the Bucks' fifth in seven games, while the Heat lost their fifth in seven. Milwaukee has won three straight meetings between the teams, although Miami has won 22 of the last 26. While Robinson and Allen provided the offense, Scott Williams and Ervin Johnson played solid defense on Alonzo Mourning, who can carry Miami only so far, it seems. Mourning led the Heat with 25 points, but had just four in the fourth quarter as he visibly tired. He also failed to get an offensive rebound and made five turnovers. "This is a continuation of Ervin and Scott playing dynamite basketball," Milwaukee coach George Karl said. "Ervin and Scott are playing great defense and give us a defensive foundation." The Heat fell to 9-6 in games without Tim Hardaway, who has a jammed knee. Miami also played without Jamal Mashburn, the team's leader in minutes and its second-leading scorer. Mashburn, who has a sprained left ankle, didn't travel with the team. "We miss them, it's obvious," Mourning said. "But we still had the opportunities. It's just a matter of doing it, that's all." Milwaukee got its second win over the Atlantic Division leaders in 10 days. Allen hit a jumper with 1.7 seconds left to give the Bucks a 96-95 win at Miami on Dec. 16. The Bucks also beat division leaders Indiana and San Antonio in the last 10 days. The Bucks, who lead the league in field-goal percentage, shot an unusually low percentage in the first three quarters, but 17 offensive rebounds and a strong defensive effort allowed Milwaukee to lead for all but the game's first two minutes. Sam Cassell made up for a 2-for-12 shooting performance with 11 assists. Allen had 16 points in the first half as the athletic Bucks outran the short-handed Heat. Milwaukee held Miami without a field goal in the final five minutes of the first half and jumped to an 57-19 lead. The Bucks were up 57-42 at halftime. Anthony Carter had 15 points and nine assists for Miami. The Bucks, normally a poor rebounding team, outrebounded the Heat 45-38. Heat rookie Rodney Buford, a Milwaukee native playing in his hometown for the first time, had five points in eight minutes while guarding Robinson.
