SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- The Milwaukee Bucks beat the NBA champion San
Antonio Spurs with a one-two punch of their own.
Sam Cassell scored 27 points and Glenn Robinson had 25 as
Milwaukee edged San Antonio 94-91 on Thursday night.

Tim Duncan, who teams with David Robinson to give San Antonio
one of the league's best frontcourt duos, led the Spurs with 18
points, but was only 6-for-22 from the field. San Antonio lost for
only the second time in 14 games at home this season.
"These guys always seem to respond well after playing poorly
and we played poorly in Sacramento on Tuesday," Milwaukee coach
George Karl said. "Tonight was a big win for us. We rode Glenn
Robinson and Sam Cassell and were able to hold on for the win."
Ray Allen added 14 points for the Bucks.
"When teams go after Tim Duncan and David Robinson like
tonight, under the new rules they can do that, it makes it
difficult on us," said San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich, who saw
Duncan and Robinson combine to shoot 10-for-32 from the field. "I
thought the guys executed great. We got what we wanted, but the
shots didn't go down."
San Antonio opened the fourth quarter with a 6-2 run to close
within three at 77-74 on Jerome Kersey's jump shot.
But Milwaukee pulled away again, with Vinny Del Negro hitting a
15-foot jumper to give the Bucks an 85-76 lead with 7:00 remaining.
David Robinson's three-point play brought San Antonio within
three at 92-89 with 1:24 remaining.
Following Glenn Robinson's jump shot, David Robinson's putback
basket made it 94-91 with 34 seconds to play.
After a Milwaukee shot-clock violation, San Antonio missed a
chance to send the game to overtime when Jaren Jackson misfired on
a pair of 3-point attempts in the final 10 seconds.
"I really had it going tonight," said Glenn Robinson, who was
10-for-16 from the field. "It feels good to shoot the ball that
well. We all made some big shots late in the game and that is what
gave us the momentum to come out with a win."
Milwaukee outscored San Antonio 26-24 in the paint.
"I hope we can keep this up and play with this much intensity
when we are playing teams we are supposed to beat," Allen said.
"This is the best I have seen us play on both ends of the court
this year."
Game notes
San Antonio's Terry Porter missed the game because of a
knee injury, ending his consecutive games streak at 358. ...
Milwaukee, which entered the game ranked No. 2 in the NBA in
free-throw shooting at 78.7 percent, was 23-for-29.
