SEATTLE (AP) -- Grant Hill took over in the fourth quarter, and there was nothing the Seattle SuperSonics could do to stop him.

Hill scored 14 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter, and Jerry Stackhouse added 21 Tuesday night as the Detroit Pistons won their second straight road game with a 100-90 victory over the Sonics.

John Crotty, Gary Payton
John Crotty looks for a place to pass while under pressure from Seattle's Gary Payton. Horace Grant, right, looks on.

"Grant was sensational. He made a couple of great plays back-to-back in the fourth quarter that made a big difference," coach George Irvine said. "They didn't shoot the ball good, and I think we had something to do with that."

Hill shot 7-for-11 in the fourth quarter and also grabbed four rebounds as the Pistons led by as many as 14 in pulling away. He didn't comment about his performance but spoke about his team's performance.

"We took away their transition and ran back at them. It was a confidence booster for us," Hill said.

Sonics coach Paul Westphal said his team had no answer for the Pistons aggressively attacking the basket.

"Grant (Hill) is a tough matchup for anybody. He broke us down over and over. We didn't defend them off the dribble."

The Pistons had ended an 11-game road losing streak with a 101-99 victory at Vancouver on Sunday.

Hill had 11 rebounds and eight assists. He reached 30 for the 24th time this season. Stackhouse put the game away with a two-hand dunk after threading his way around three Sonics defenders for a 94-83 lead with 1:50 left.

Gary Payton topped the Sonics with 22 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds. Vin Baker and Rashard Lewis added 18 each.

"We just tried to make Gary work hard and we doubled him to get the ball out of his hands," Lindsey Hunter said.

The Sonics are 7-6 over their last 13 games and have lost 12 home games already. That is their worst home-court performance since they were 28-13 at home during the 1991-92 season.

Detroit swept the season series from the Sonics. They defeated the Sonics 107-99 on Nov. 13 in Auburn Hills because of Hill and Stackhouse, and that one-two punch was too much again for the Sonics.

Detroit had the upper hand most of the game though the Sonics stayed close throughout the second half.

Hill had eight points, including two putback baskets, in a 10-3 run for an 81-72 Pistons lead with nine minutes left in the game. The Sonics got no closer than four points the rest of the way.

The game was tied at 67 when the Pistons started their push. Michael Curry scored on layup on a bounce pass from John Crotty. Stackhouse blocked Payton's reverse layup that led to a left-hand runner by Curry for a 71-67 lead. Payton countered with a baseline jumper that trimmed the deficit to 71-69 after three quarters.

Hill had 17 and Stackhouse 14 for the Pistons in the opening half.

Detroit scored the first 10 points of the second period for a 38-33 lead. The Sonics scored the final four points of the first half for a 51-51 tie.

Game notes
Crotty, who played for Seattle part of last season, is now with his sixth team in his eight years in the league. ... Irvine played his college basketball at the University of Washington in Seattle and is 6-2 since replacing Alvin Gentry, who was fired on March 6.
