SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- After losing to the NBA's top two teams in the previous games, the Sacramento Kings were happy to see the Los Angeles Clippers show up at Arco Arena.

Chris Webber scored 25 points and had eight rebounds Wednesday night as the Kings cruised past the Clippers 98-78.

Sacramento outscored Los Angeles 28-14 in the second quarter, led by 22 points at the half and never let the margin slip under 18 in the second half.

"This was a really solid effort for us. We needed to come out and get a win tonight," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "I thought we did what we had to do to get this win."

Webber certainly did his part, scoring 17 points in the opening half, when Sacramento led 55-33. He made 11 of 24 shots and finished with four assists and two blocks.

"It was the Clippers, we can't be too happy about this, it's a team we're supposed to beat," Webber said. "We won't be seeing the Clippers in the playoffs."

Despite missing the entire fourth quarter, Vlade Divac scored 12 points and had 15 rebounds for the Kings, who won for the fifth time in seven games.

The Kings were outrebounded badly in close losses to the Lakers and Portland. Divac, who had only three rebounds Tuesday night in Portland, was determined to change that.

"We talked about it before the game, and last night when the Blazers killed us," Divac said. "I took that personally, because I only had three or so (rebounds) and tonight I was thinking about going out and being aggressive and get some rebounds."

Predrag Stojakovic made two 3-pointers and scored 17 points, while reserve guard Tony Delk had 10 points.

Rookie Lamar Odom had his third triple-double of the year, getting 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the Clippers, who have lost 31 of their last 36 games. Michael Olowokandi had 16 points and 14 rebounds.

"We just didn't play as a team from the very beginning, and they kind of set the tone like they usually do. You have got to come play against them," Odom said. "It was was one of those games we didn't come to play early and we paid for it."

Ahead by 20 points, the Kings opened the fourth quarter with six straight points. Jon Barry made a 3-pointer, giving the Kings an 80-54 lead with 10:20 remaining.

Webber scored eight points in the third quarter, including consecutive dunks as Sacramento built the lead to 24 at one stretch and was ahead 74-54 heading into the fourth period.

"It didn't feel like we were in the game at all; once halftime came it felt like it was over," Clippers coach Jim Todd said.

Ahead by four points midway through the second quarter, Sacramento outscored the Clippers 22-4 over the final 6:21, assuming a 55-33 lead by halftime.

Divac had 10 points and 11 rebounds in the opening half. Tony Delk scored eight second-quarter points off the bench.
