ATLANTA (AP) _ Isaiah Rider scored 28 points and Dikembe Mutombo added 17 points, 19 rebounds and six blocked shots Saturday as the Atlanta Hawks cruised to a 111-93 victory over the Washington Wizards. The Hawks, who snapped a four-game losing streak, led only 70-68 before an 18-6 run in the final five minutes of the third quarter gave them a 14-point lead entering the final period. Rider, Alan Henderson and Mutombo combined for all 18 of the points during the spurt, with Rider getting seven points, Henderson six and Mutumbo five. Jim Jackson added 20 points and Henderson had 19 for the Hawks, who are off to their worst start since 1977-78 despite the win, only their third in 13 games and fifth in 21 games. Rod Strickland and rookie Richard Hamilton each had 21 points for the Wizards. Hamilton scored 17 second-half points in getting his career high. The Wizards are now 1-2 since Michael Jordan became the team's president of basketball operations. Jordan was not at the game. Atlanta scored the first six points of the fourth quarter to complete a 24-6 spurt for a 94-74 lead. The Hawks led by 23 points with eight minutes left. The Hawks led 58-51 at the half with Jackson scoring 15 of his points. Strickland, averaging 12.6 points a game, had 17 in the opening half. Juwan Howard, who had a season-high 36 points Friday night as the Wizards broke a five-game losing streak in beating Indiana 123-113, had 18. Notes: The 30 third-period points were the most scored by the Hawks in 13 games. ... Atlanta rookie Dion Glover stayed home with the flu. ... Mutombo, the league's second-best in field goal percentage (56 pct) after going 1-for-11 Friday night in Miami, was 4-for-4 in the opening half. ... Washington's last road victory was Dec. 21 in a 97-83 win over Detroit.
