| We told you what we thought of the Brewers' first-half performance, now you've told us. Here is what you had to say about our reports and what the Brewers have to do in the second half:
The Brewers have been disappointing but it is possible that they are to the '90s what the Braves were to the '80s! At least their TV and radio crews are fun to listen to! Look for improvement in 2001 when they move into Miller Park. Dan PapeKingman, Ariz.
This team needs to decide whether to go with a youth movement or continue to fill the line-up with aging, stop-gap players such as Charlie Hayes, Jose Hernandez, and Marquis Grissom. The Brewers are in serious need of power at the corners, an all-around better centerfielder and a dominant starter. Things look bleak. Chris Tentoni Greenfield, Wis.
The only reason the Brewers are not in the cellar is because Houston is so terrible this year. I am a supporter and I can't find anything right with them. How long can they be this bad? Tom Heacox Madison, Wis.
This is the worst team in baseball that was again produced by the worst organization in baseball. They think small, act small and are small. In between the incessant complaining, they spend the money they do have poorly, making mistake after mistake. Then they sing the small market blues. With this ownership, a $100 million payroll wouldn't even place them in the middle of the pecking order. Overcoming themselves is their biggest challenge. They are the family-owned True Value Hardware store playing in the league of Home Depots.

I think that the Brewers, as well as other small market clubs, are just trying to survive in the days of big baseball dollars. I give all the credit to the current team, who are winning games despite the odds. Only when baseball equalizes its market, will the sport ever be truly competitive and equal. But until that days come, the Brewers will continue to do their best. Bill Schwartz Brookfield, Wis.
Baseball sucks! Without revenue sharing, small market teams will never win anything. There is no drama, everyone knows who is going to make it to the World Series, it's the teams with one of the top five payrolls. This sport is going downhill fast. Bryan Greuel Boulder, Colo.
Even though the Brewers have set a team record for the most losses at the break, I think there are some positive things. Jimmy Haynes and Jamie Wright look like they can be solid pitchers for a long time. Burnitz has been a disappointment, but he still is the team's only major home run threat. He will bounce back. The team has also been hurt by the injury to Mark Loretta. He is a solid defensive shortstop and a .300 hitter. Having him at leadoff or second in the lineup would be a big plus. The bullpen just plain stinks, but most teams can say that.

The problem with the Brewers is that they have so many washed up veterens on their team. They need to bring in their rising stars from Triple-A to give them experience. Look what it did for the Expos. Shea SuskiAmherst, Wis. The Brewers could have a surprising second half if their pitching stays healthy. When they are on, the rotation of Haynes, Wright, Snyder and Bere is a lot better than most other teams. Look for the Brewers to rise towards .500 during the second half and play spoiler to the rest of the league's playoff contenders. Andrew HagenKansas City, Kan.
We may not have a lot to cheer about, but us Brewers fan are still loyal and still believe. And besides, with Miller Park opening next year and the sausage races, what's not to like? Go Bratwurst! I could sit here and rant and rave about the Brewers rebuilding a team for the future. I could tell you that they will eventually win it all and all will be good in Milwaukee. But I know it won't happen. Why? Because it doesn't matter anymore. The true Brewer fan knows that the Brewers stink and the true Brewers fan knows that they always will stink just so we as blue collar workers will have one more thing to complain about besides our low pay checks. We dont care about being the doormats of the NL Central. As long as we beat the Cubs and get to tailgate and drink lots of beer we will be content.
