Was used primarily in long relief the first month of the season ... Was used in short relief from June 6 until the All-Star Break ... Made his first and only start of the year on July 26 at Detroit ... Took the loss as he allowed four runs on five hits in three innings ... Picked up his first major league win in his next outing on August 1 vs. Texas ... Entered the game in the top of the 11th with two on and the score tied 1-1 and allowed both runs to score ... A's scored three in the bottom of the inning to win.

1994
Made major-league debut April 7 at Milwaukee, inheriting a bases-loaded, no-out situation ... He allowed just one of those runners to score before retiring the side ... His lone save was June 18 at Texas ... His best start was June 29 vs. California, pitching eight scoreless, two-hit innings. He got the no-decision, as the A's won in the bottom of the ninth ... Had a 2.66 ERA at home during the season, and a 5.79 mark on the road.

1993
Split the season between Greenville (AA) and Richmond (AAA) ... Posted a combined record of 9-1 with three saves in 51 appearances ... Struck out 87 and walked just 35 in 98 2/3 innings ... Went 3-0 with one save in April at Greenville, then went 5-0 with one save and a 1.92 ERA in his final two months at Double-A ... Won his first pro start May 8 vs. Birmingham ... Was promoted to Richmond in mid-July and allowed just one run in his first seven appearances ... Ran into some problems in mid-August, when he allowed eight earned runs in five appearances covering 9 2/3 innings ... Picked up his only save for Richmond Aug. 30 vs. Rochester with three shutout innings of relief.
