Began season with Pittsburgh ... Picked up victory on May 7 vs. Chicago ... Was unconditionally released on May 15 when rosters were trimmed from 28 players to 25 ... Signed by the Boston Red Sox as a free agent on May 30 ... First pitch in a Sox uniform was a three run home run to Andy Tomberlin on May 31 in Oakland, but then retired the next six batters en route to a 6-5 Boston victory ... Best moment came in New York when he retired 15 of the 16 batters he faced ... Re-signed by the Boston Red Sox as a free agent on Dec. 15, 1995.

1994
Recorded saves April 6 at Chicago and April 16 vs. Houston ... Placed on disabled list, retroactive to April 27, with a hairline fracture in his toe ... Activated on May 13 ... First victory of the season was May 28 vs. Cincinnati, going a season-best 3.1 innings while allowing two hits, no runs and no walks ... Threw one hitless, scoreless inning to pick up his second win in an 11-inning game July 26 at St. Louis.

1993
First season with the Mets ... Led bullpen in games finished (31) and strikeouts (57) ... Started the season by losing his first six decisions of the year before notching a win against Pittsburgh on Aug. 7 ... Compiled a 3-2 mark with a pair of saves and a 2.32 ERA in 27 appearances after the All-Star break ... Posted a 0.90 ERA in eight July outings and was 3-0 with a 0.84 ERA in August ... Was 1-1 with a 1.07 ERA in 21 daytime appearances ... Limited right-handers to a .225 average.

1992
Started the season on the DL with tendinitis in his right wrist ... Was activated on April 26 and did not allow a run in his first nine appearances back ... Allowed just one run over his next 21 innings from June 14-July 19 ... Made his only start of the season on Oct. 3 in Atlanta, losing 1-0 in the rain-shortened contest ... Was traded to the Mets after the season for Roger Mason and Mike Freitas.

First season with San Diego after signing with the team as a free agent in March ... Tied for the team lead with 64 appearances ... Established a career high in victories and ERA ... Won his only start of the year, 11-0, on June 8 at Pittsburgh ... Compiled a string of 22 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings from June 13 to July 31 ... Allowed only six hits during the streak which covered 14 games.

1990
Split the season between Albuquerque (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and the Dodgers after signing with the organization as a free agent in December ... Started the year with the Dukes, going 3-0 in five games ... Had his contract purchased by the Dodgers May 11 and was called to action that night ... Appeared in 11 games for the Dodgers going 0-1 ... Was outrighted back to Albuquerque on June 13 ... Put together a 8-5 record during his two stints with the Dukes.

1989
Spent his eighth and final season with the Phillies organization ... Stayed on the big league roster for the entire season for the first time in his career ... Recorded his first major league shutout on April 29 over the Cincinnati Reds in a rain-shortened contest .. Notched his first big league save against the Cubs on April 5 ... Had bone chips removed from his right elbow in September.

1988
Spent parts of the season with both the Phillies and Maine (AAA) of the International League ... Was placed on the DL on April 21 with a ligament strain in his right elbow ... Went to Maine (AAA) after coming off the DL, only to be recalled by the Phillies June 22.

1987
Battled shoulder problems throughout the season ... Appeared in 18 games with Maine, going 6-6 with a 4.35 ERA ... Won two games for the Phillies in seven appearances.

1986
Started the year with Portland (AAA) before earning his first big league promotion ... Joined the Phillies on June 3 ... Notched his first major league win on Aug. 15 vs. Pittsburgh ... Appeared against his brother Greg for the first time on Sept. 29, losing to the Cubs, 8-3 ... It marked the first time that rookie brother pitchers had ever opposed each other in the majors.
