Fick, Polonia, Encarnacion await decision

CLEVELAND -- Frank Robinson, baseball's director of on-field operations, heard the appeals Thursday for three of the Detroit Tigers suspended for the April 22 brawl against the Chicago White Sox.

Robert Fick, Juan Encarnacion and Luis Polonia met with Robinson at a downtown hotel along with Paul Beeston, baseball's chief operating officer.

Robinson is not expected to make a decision for a few days.

"I feel pretty good about it," said Polonia, who later homered leading off Thursday night's game against the Cleveland Indians.

Fick was suspended for five games and Encarnacion and Polonia for three apiece for their part in the brawl. Tigers manager Phil Garner, reliever Doug Brocail and third baseman Dean Palmer have already served their suspensions.

First base coach Juan Samuel, whose suspension was reduced from 15 to 10 games following an appeal, was back on the field for Thursday night's game against the Indians.

Encarnacion was not in the lineup, but it was not related to his suspension.
