MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- Herbert Perry drove in three runs and Mike Sirotka got plenty of support to win his fifth straight decision as the Chicago White Sox continued their march toward the postseason with a 9-4 pounding of the Minnesota Twins.

Perry slapped a two-run double to cap a four-run fifth inning that broke open the game.

Ray Durham had three hits and scored twice and both Magglio Ordonez and Jeff Abbott had two RBI for the White Sox, who have won three straight and nine of their last 14 games.

The White Sox hold a 7 1/2-game lead over second-lace Cleveland in the American League Central and own the best record in the AL and the second-best mark in the major leagues. Their magic number for clinching the division title is four.

Sirotka (15-10) allowed three runs and 10 hits over 6 2/3 innings, striking out one and walking two. His streak and season win total both are career highs.

"I think we're capable of anything," he said. "We have the offense to score runs, but we have to score runs. We can't let our pitchers have to fight back from a big lead because we didn't score. The key to us winning is whether we can score runs."

Sirotka has not lost since dropping an 8-2 decision at Baltimore on August 14. Since then, he has given up no more than three runs in any start while pitching at least six innings.

"Mike's been a big lift for us this year, especially down the home stretch," Chicago first baseman Paul Konerko said. "When you have a pitcher like Mike on the mound, it takes a little pressure off the offense."

The White Sox fell behind 3-0 after three innings but rallied for three runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth.

Perry doubled in a run in the fourth and Abbott followed with a two-run double to tie it at 3-3. In the fifth, Ordonez put the White Sox ahead with a sacrifice fly and Carlos Lee padded the lead with an RBI single that ended the night for rookie starter Johan Santana (2-3).

Jason Ryan came on in relief and uncorked a wild pitch that put both runners in scoring position. After Ryan hit Konerko with a pitch, Perry delivered a two-run double for a 7-3 cushion.

"Anytime you play a team like the White Sox, you know they are going to score runs," Twins right fielder Matt Lawton said. "Their lineup is unbelievable. Hopefully, they won't clinch it here."

David Ortiz had an RBI single in the first and Lawton drove in two with a single in the second to get the Twins started.
