DENVER (AP) -- John Mabry continued his torrid hitting at Coors Field. Mabry, a career .494 hitter in Colorado, went 3-for-4 with a homer and single as the San Diego Padres had a season-high in runs with a 15-11 victory over the struggling Colorado Rockies Wednesday night. "When I am at the plate here, it's like I don't see anything but the ball," Mabry said. "I don't know if it's the background here or what, but I always feel like I can see the ball well." Adam Eaton (6-3), worked the first six innings, giving up five runs and six hits in winning for the first time in four starts. Heathcliff Slocumb walked the first four batters in the ninth before Trevor Hoffman got three outs for his 41st save. "This park can be a real confidence builder, because when you get hits, your confidence goes up," said Mabry, who is 40-for-81 in Colorado. "I thought we would swing the bats better once we got here, but I never expected this," San Diego manager Bruce Bochy said. "A lot of guys broke out the last couple of days." Besides Mabry, Dave Magadan and Mike Darr each had four RBIs. Magadan went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer. Darr added a three-run triple. "This was just a bad game," Colorado manager Buddy Bell said."I don't want to single anyone out. That was just a bad game." Brian Rose (4-3), who hadn't lost since Aug. 23, lasted two innings, allowing six runs and five hits. Butch Huskey homered and had two RBIs and Ben Petrick drove in three runs for the Rockies who extended their losing streak to five games. "I didn't go out there trying not to throw strikes," said Rose who struggled with his control, walking three. "I'm trying to impress this club and now I have only two starts left to do that." The Padres led 6-0 after two innings, batting around in the first inning. Ryan Klesko, Mabry and Darr all had RBI singles. Klesko drew a four-pitch two-out walk in the second and scored on a double to left by Magadan. One pitch later Mabry homered over the wall in right. Colorado scored twice in the second inning with Eaton issuing one-out walks to Todd Walker and Todd Hollandsworth ahead of an RBI double by Huskey and a run-scoring ground out by Petrick. Magadan hit a three-run homer and Ben Davis a two-run shot in the fourth inning off reliever Giovanni Carrara gave San Diego an 11-2 lead. Petrick's sacrifice fly in the fourth made it 11-3, but Darr hit a bases loaded triple in the San Diego fifth off Pete Walker to increase their lead to 14-3. Jeff Cirillo's two-run double keyed a four-run eighth inning to get Colorado within 15-9. "It was a good game until it got sloppy at the last two innings," Bochy said. "We had the big lead and let them bounce back." Game notesSan Diego's previous high this year was 11 runs in an Aug. 22 game with the New York Mets. ... OF Tony Gwynn didn't make the trip to Denver, but will join the Padres when the team arrives in Los Angeles on Thursday evening. ... Catcher George Williams cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple A Las Vegas. The move was made to make room on the 40-man roster for Xavier Nady. ... RHP Masato Yoshii will miss his scheduled start Saturday against the Florida Marlins due to soreness in his right forearm. RHP John Wasdin will make Yoshii's start. ... The Rockies activated LHP David Moraga. Moraga was claimed off the waiver wire on June 21 from the Montreal Expos.
