BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore Orioles hit four solo homers off rookie Mark Mulder and extended their winning streak to four by defeating the Oakland Athletics 8-3 on Friday night. Charles Johnson, Cal Ripken, Jeff Conine and B.J. Surhoff connected for the Orioles, who had 13 hits. It was the first time in seven games that Baltimore won when getting at least 10 hits. Scott Erickson (2-1) allowed three runs and six hits in six innings. He walked one and struck out four. Mulder (2-2) allowed six runs and 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings. The left-hander had allowed only three home runs in his first seven starts. Matt Stairs homered for the A's, who have lost seven of 10. Three players left the game with minor injuries and another received a huge scare. Oakland's Jeremy Giambi sprained his right thumb on a play at first base in the first inning and was replaced in the second. On the same play, Baltimore's Mike Bordick was hit in side of the batting helmet by a throw from shortstop Miguel Tejada. He lay prone for several minutes but remained in the game. In the sixth, Johnson left after a foul ball by Ben Grieve struck him in the groin. He was replaced behind the plate by Greg Myers. Oakland reliever Mike Magnante left in the Orioles' four-run sixth with a strained right hamstring. Baltimore went up 8-3 in the sixth. Surhoff led off with a homer and Mulder issued a one-out walk before being replaced by Luis Vizcaino, who gave up a two-run double to Delino DeShields and an RBI double to Conine. Johnson gave the Orioles a 1-0 lead in the third with his seventh homer, the first since April 24. Stairs tied it in the fourth with his seventh home run, a drive to right on a 3-2 count. Ripken led off the bottom of the inning with his ninth homer. The Orioles then loaded the bases before Bordick got an infield hit to make it 3-1. Conine homered in the fifth, his first since April 28. Grieve and Tejada hit RBI singles in the sixth to make it 4-3. Game notesBy the fifth inning, every Orioles starter reached base safely. ... Stairs has more homers against Baltimore (12) than any other team. ... Erickson was 0-3 with a 10.67 ERA against Oakland last year. ...
