PHOENIX (AP) -- Erubiel Durazo is showing that his rapid rise to the big-time was no one-year fluke.

Durazo, who took over as Arizona's cleanup hitter after Matt Williams was hurt in spring training, extended his hitting streak to nine games Saturday with a home run and a double as the Diamondbacks beat the San Diego Padres 10-5.

Arizona signed Durazo out of the Mexican League, and he moved last season from Double-A El Paso to Triple-A Tucson to starting first baseman for the Diamondbacks.

Durazo, who has raised his average to .351, had a homer and single in Arizona's six-run second inning against Rodrigo Lopez (0-1).

"I feel good. I'm seeing the ball well," Durazo said. "I remember getting two outs in an inning, but not two hits."

Jay Bell had two hits, including a two-run single in the second. Pinch-hitter Greg Colbrunn, who has been platooned with Durazo at first and in the cleanup spot, had a two-run double in the eighth.

"Erubiel's been swinging the bat pretty well for a while," Arizona manager Buck Showalter said. "He's not a secret in this clubhouse. He and (Colbrunn) have been a real nice complement for each other over there. They've been a big part of us trying to stay together here while we've got some people out."

The Padres' Ed Sprague was 4-for-4, including two home runs that gave him three in two days. Bret Boone hit a three-run homer off Brian Anderson in the fourth. Five of Sprague's six home runs this season have come against the Diamondbacks.

Anderson (2-0) allowed four runs and seven hits in seven innings, and was helped by some strong defense, including three line-drive catches at shortstop by Tony Womack, one at his shoe tops, one diving to his left and one soaring high in the air.

"I've said before that Tony seems to make an impact every day with a play athletically," Showalter said, "and I think today was an example of that."

Byung-Hyun Kim struck out the side for Arizona in the eighth, extending his streak of consecutive strikeouts to seven.

Lopez, in his second outing since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas, allowed six runs and six hits in 1 2/3 innings.

"He wasn't bad. We lost that ball in the lights and couldn't get him out of the inning," San Diego manager Bruce Bochy said. "I didn't want to hurt the kid. I hoped he could get out of the inning and regroup, but he lost so many pitches that inning. He threw better than what it looked like."

Durazo, hitting .433 with four homers and 12 RBI during his hitting streak, led off the second with his sixth home run. Steve Finley doubled and Travis Lee walked, then Kelly Stinnett singled to drive in Finley.

Andy Fox singled when left fielder Al Martin lost the ball in the lights, loading the bases for Anderson, who hit a sacrifice fly.

Womack grounded to second and Boone's throw to second was not in time and off the mark.

"Obviously we want to get an out. We're not going to get two on Womack," Bochy said. "The throw was just a little wide. I like it when it's hit to Boone. He just made a mistake there."

Bell's single up the middle drove in two runs, and Arizona made it 6-1 when Luis Gonzalez hit into a run-scoring fielder's choice.

Boone's three-run homer cut the lead to 6-4 in the fourth. Arizona added two more in the fourth when reliever Kevin Walker walked Durazo with the bases loaded and Womack scored on Finley's sacrifice fly.

San Diego's Eric Owens was 0-for-4 and failed to reach base for the first time in the 28 games he's played this season. ... In his first outing, against Atlanta, Lopez allowed one run and five hits in seven innings. ... Arizona closer Matt Mantei is rehabilitating his weak shoulder with the same exercise regimen that Todd Stottlemyre used to come back without surgery from a partially torn rotator cuff. ... Gonzalez was 0-for-3 and has two hits in his last 24 at-bats.
