PHOENIX (AP) -- The flu left Barry Bonds dizzy and drained. He made the Arizona Diamondbacks feel the same way.

Bonds' homer was his seventh, tying him for the NL lead, and it came just two days after he spent a game on the clubhouse floor while battling the flu.

"Usually, I can break a cold real fast, but this one's taking its toll," Bonds said between sniffles. "It just makes you weak and tired and drained. But I'm trying to suck it up and put everything I have into each at-bat."

Arizona's Steve Finley also hit his seventh homer, and Luis Gonzalez added his fourth.

Diamondbacks closer Matt Mantei made his first appearance of the season, pitching a hitless ninth and striking out Bonds. He had been sidelined by biceps tendinitis.

"As long as my arm feels all right, things will go well for me," Mantei said.

Kirk Rueter (2-1), making his first start in 11 days, allowed four runs and four hits in seven innings.

"I was just trying to get into a good rhythm of keeping the ball down every pitch instead of every two or three," Rueter said.

Robb Nen, in his first save chance since April 5, worked the ninth for his third save. He struck out Gonzalez with runners on first and second to end it.

"It was nice to be in a position to use Nen," said Giants manager Dusty Baker, whose club has won two straight for the first time since April 4-5.

Finley's two-run homer gave the Diamondbacks a 4-3 lead in the third, but San Francisco rallied in the sixth.

Bill Mueller singled and later scored on shortstop Hanley Frias' throwing error. After Russ Davis singled and Rich Aurilia walked to load the bases, Omar Daal (0-2) walked Doug Mirabelli, forcing home the go-ahead run.

San Francisco extended its lead to 8-4 in the seventh on Jeff Kent's two-run double and a sacrifice fly by Ellis Burks.

Greg Colbrunn had an RBI double and Lenny Harris had a run-scoring grounder in the Arizona eighth.

Daal allowed five runs -- three earned -- five hits and five walks in six innings. He struck out six.

"My fastball wasn't working too good," Daal said. "I was behind in the count most of the time and I just walked too many guys."

The Diamondbacks wasted little time against Rueter as Bell drew a one-out walk in the first and Gonzalez followed with a home run to the back of the pool area.

The Giants pulled to 2-1 in the second when Burks doubled and scored on a single by Aurilia.

Bonds gave San Francisco a 3-2 lead an inning later when he hit a line drive over the right-field bullpen. But Finley answered in the bottom half, homering 20 rows deep into the right-field stands for a 4-3 lead.

Arizona C Damian Miller left in the bottom of the seventh when he strained his left hamstring while running out a double. .... Commissioner Bud Selig was in attendance and watched the end of the Suns-Spurs playoff game on a TV in the stands, along with Jerry Colangelo, the Diamondbacks and Suns owner. ... The win assured the Giants of their first series victory against Arizona since Sept. 14-16, 1998.
