OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) _ Travis Fryman had four hits and four RBIs and Chuck Finley and three relievers combined to strike out 16 Oakland batters as the Cleveland Indians beat the Athletics 9-4 Monday night.

Finley, who signed with Cleveland as a free agent after spending the first 14 years of his big league career with Anaheim, struck out 10 for the 28th time in his career. However, he couldn't hold a 4-2 lead in the sixth and left with his second straight no-decision.

Jacob Cruz broke a 4-4 tie by doubling home two runs in the seventh inning.

Scott Kamieniecki (1-1) got the win with 1 1-3 innings of hitless relief, Paul Shuey pitched a scoreless eighth and Steve Karsay struck out two in the ninth.

Fryman had two-run singles in the first and ninth innings and Manny Ramirez tripled and singled to drive in a pair of runs for the Indians, who beat the A's for the 11th time in 13 meetings.

After Oakland rallied to even the score, David Justice and Fryman singled off Jeff Tam (0-1) to start the seventh. Cruz lined a double down the left-field line to score them before he came home on Omar Vizquel's RBI double off Mike Magnante.

Frank Menechino singled to start the sixth but after fanning Jason Giambi for his 10th strikeout, Finley walked John Jaha. One out later, Ramon Hernandez hit a two-run double to tie it.

Finley issued a two-out walk to Ben Grieve before Kamieniecki relieved and struck out Miguel Tejada to end the inning.

Tim Hudson, who took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in beating Detroit 3-1 last week, allowed four runs on five hits in five innings.

He was down 3-0 by the end of the first inning and struggled with his control throughout, walking six and hitting a batter.

Ramirez tripled home Vizquel, aboard with a double. Jim Thome and David Justice walked ahead of Fryman's two-run single in the first.

Oakland closed within a run when Eric Chavez homered off Finley after Tejada singled to lead off the third.

Cleveland scored its fourth run in the fourth when Einar Diaz was hit by Hudson, reached third on a pair of groundouts and came home on Ramirez's infield single.

Notes: Thome, who led the league last season with 127 walks, drew his first pass of the season, walking on four pitches in the first inning. ... Of Hudson's 112 pitches, just 53 were strikes. ... Finley last outing with at least 10 was last Aug. 15 when he fanned xx Detroit Tigers. ... Vizquel, a seven-time Gold Glove shortstop, robbed pinch-hitter Rich Becker in the seventh when he ranged to his left, bare-handed a sharp grounder up the middle and threw him out. ... The Indians stranded 17 baserunners.
