TORONTO (AP) _ Raul Mondesi, who asked out of Los Angeles, was plunked twice and had to go to the hospital as the Toronto Blue Jays won 10-4 on Friday night in Mondesi's first game against the Dodgers. Orel Hershiser nailed him on his left arm in the second inning, and Mondesi muttered obscenities after Matt Herges hit him on the left hand in the fourth inning. He went to the hospital for X-rays, which showed no break. ``They better throw harder because the baseball is not going to hurt me,'' Mondesi said. ``I don't know why they threw at me twice. There's something wrong.'' The moody right-fielder looked like he wanted to make a statement early. He hit the first pitch he saw in the first inning for an RBI single. He moved to second on the throw into the infield, and moved to third on a short fly ball to left. ``I didn't do it because it was against the Dodgers, I just play hard everytime,'' Mondesi said. Shawn Green, traded for Mondesi, had a more pleasant experience in his first game against his former team. Green, who received a mix of boos and cheers, walked in his first at-bat, and hit into double play in his second at-bat. Tony Batista and Darrin Fletcher hit back-to-back homers in the first inning for the Blue Jays. Mondesi, who spent 12 years in the Dodgers organization, demanded out after blasting Dodgers management last season. ``I'm glad he's not hurt, but I would love to see him get out of the way of those pitches,'' Hershiser said. ``I watched both the replays and he didn't make a great effort to get out of the way.'' Green, who spent eight years in the Blue Jays' organization, asked out so he could be closer to his Newport Beach home. ``This is an exciting time for me, it's an emotional time,'' Green said. ``It's great to see old friends, but it's really tough to see all my buddies I grew up with through baseball and not get a chance to be on their team. ``It's a weird feeling.'' Notes: Green and Mondesi chatted and posed for photographers before the game ... Green hit .309 with 42 homers and 123 RBIs last season. ... Mondesi hit .253 with 33 homers and 99 RBIs. ... The local chapter of the BWWAA presented their yearly awards before the game. Green was named MVP. Pitcher Pat Hentgen, now with the St. Louis Cardinals, won the good guy award. Second baseman Homer Buch received the most improved player award, and closer Billy Koch was named the best rookie and best pitcher of the year. ... Just 7,006 fans attended the game. ... Toronto starter Chris Carpenter took a line drive off his pitching elbow in first inning. Carpenter left after Mark Grudzielanek, the second batter of the game, hit a comebacker that ricocheted off Carpenter's right elbow and into left field. X-rays showed there was no break.
