HAINES CITY, Fla. (AP) _ Luis Polonia went 3-for-6 with a home run and three RBIs, and Tilson Brito hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs Monday as the Detroit Tigers routed the Kansas City Royals 15-7.

Polonia, who homered leading off the ninth, is 9-for-16 with seven runs scored in his last four games.

Brito, a shortstop signed as a minor league free agent in December, hit a three-run homer in the fifth off loser Mac Suzuki. But Brito, fighting for a roster spot, also made two errors.

Jose Rosado, hampered by a strained hamstring and making only his second start of the spring, gave up six runs, seven hits and three walks in three innings.

Tigers starter Jeff Weaver allowed six runs _ four earned _ and eight hits in 5 1-3 innings. He struck out five.

Sal Fasano, Dave McCarty and Anthony Medrano each had three hits for the Royals, who had won their previous seven home games.

McCarty, acquired Friday from Oakland, drove in three runs.
