PHOENIX (AP) _ Chris Singleton's two-run single highlighted a seven-run rally in the seventh as the Chicago White Sox came from behind to defeat the Oakland Athletics 9-8 on Wednesday.

Paul Konerko had three hits, scored twice and drove in a run as the White Sox won their fifth straight.

Bo Porter and Terrence Long, both part of a four-way battle for the center field position, each homered for the A's, who had a three-game win streak snapped. It was just the A's fourth loss in 19 decisions this spring.

Chicago starter Cal Eldred did not allow a hit until Long's single in the fifth. That opened the way for a five-run rally. Eric Chavez drove in two runs with a double. Long and Ryan Christenson, also in the center field mix, also drove in runs.

Miguel Tejada hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth to give the A's a 6-2 lead heading into the seventh.

A's relief pitcher T.J. Mathews allowed four consecutive singles to start the seventh, including Ray Durham's run-scoring single and Mike Caruso's two-run single. After an out, Konerko tied the game with a single.

Scott Service relieved Mathews, and loaded the bases with a walk to Greg Norton and a single to Carlos Lee ahead of Singleton's game-winning hit.

Bill Simas got the victory after pitching out of a jam in the fifth and allowing one run in two innings.

Oakland starter Mark Mulder allowed two runs on six hits in six innings.
