SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) _ Garrett Anderson hit a pair of two-run homers and Troy Glaus had a go-ahead, two-run single in the eighth inning as the Anaheim Angels rallied from a six-run deficit Monday to beat the San Francisco Giants 9-8.

Five of the Angels' runs came off two of the Giants' top relievers and offset homers by Barry Bonds and Marvin Benard.

Closer Robb Nen, making his second appearance of the spring after offseason surgery to repair a partially torn elbow tendon, was tagged for three seventh-inning runs, including Anderson's second homer.

Loser John Johnstone, a leading candidate to assume the role of closer if Nen is not ready when the season starts, then surrendered a walk and three singles in the eighth, including the two-out, game-winning hit by Glaus.

Nen also struggled with his control in his first outing since March 8, issuing consecutive walks. The Giants will wait until Tuesday to see how Nen's arm feels before deciding when he'll pitch again.

``I made it through the inning,'' said Nen, who threw only fastballs. ``I got my work in. I was anxious but not nervous. I was ready to go out there and pitch. As of right now, I feel all right. I don't think anything is going to happen. We'll just go from there.''

Giants manager Dusty Baker said he viewed Nen's outing as another step in his rehabilitation but conceded he might not be ready for the start of the season.

``We're still handling him very carefully,'' Baker said.

San Francisco opened a 6-0 lead in the second against starter Brian Cooper, getting two-run doubles from Rich Aurilia and Bobby Estalella and a two-run homer from Benard. Cooper gave up six runs on five hits in four innings.

Anaheim got to San Francisco starter Mark Gardner for four runs, including Anderson's first homer in the fourth. Gardner had left after six innings with an 8-4 lead following Bonds' homer off the scoreboard behind the center field fence and Russ Davis' run-scoring double. The homer was Bonds' fifth of the spring and fourth in seven games.

Winner Kent Mercker allowed two runs in four innings, and Eric Weaver worked a scoreless ninth for his first save.
