PHOENIX (AP) _ Former Milwaukee shortstop Jose Valentin hit a tiebreaking, two-run triple in the seventh inning and Chris Singleton was 4-for-5 Tuesday as the Chicago White Sox beat the Brewers 7-3. Valentin, dealt by the Brewers during the offseason, got his hit in a four-run seventh against loser Bob Scanlan. Kip Wells, slated for the No. 2 spot in Chicago's rotation, allowed three runs and six hits in five innings. Winner Bill Simas gave up three hits in two scoreless innings, and Matt Ginter finished with two hitless innings. Steve Woodard, scheduled to start for the Brewers on opening day, allowed two runs and five hits in five innings.
