DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) _ Carlos Delgado hit his first home run of the spring in a three-run seventh inning as the Toronto Blue Jays beat Kansas City 3-2 Tuesday and sent the winless Royals to their fifth loss.

Delgado's homer came off loser Ricky Bottalico, who gave up three runs _ two unearned _ and four hits in one inning.

Winner Billy Koch pitched the seventh, throwing a called third strike past Carlos Beltran with runners at second and third and two outs.

``I just pretended it was a save,'' Koch said. ``It just doesn't count.''

Catcher Alberto Castillo, obtained by Toronto from St. Louis in the Pat Hentgen trade, went 1-for-3 with an RBI and threw out a runner. He has seven RBIs in five games and is batting .455.

Castillo is catching while Darren Fletcher recovers from knee surgery.

`He's got a good feel for the game,'' Toronto manager Jim Fregosi said. ``We're fortunate to get a catcher of his caliber.''

Royals starter Jay Witasick allowed one hit in three innings, while Blue Jays starter Roy Halladay gave up two runs, three hits and three walks in 3 2-3 innings.

``I was just trying to get my work in today and work the corners,'' Halladay said. ``I threw every pitch I had today.''

Notes: Toronto LHP David Wells is to make his first start of the spring on Thursday. Kelvim Escobar will follow Wells in his first appearence. ... The Royals obtained switch-hitting catcher Greg Zaun from the Detroit Tigers for a player to be named or cash.
