GAME LOG
KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- The season finale between the Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals was cancelled due to inclement weather. The cancellation ends the Royals' season at 64-97, tying them with the 1970 club for the most losses in franchise history. Detroit finished its campaign at 69-92, 4 1/2 games ahead of last season's 65-97 campaign. But the Tigers failed to build on 1998's strong finish under Larry Parrish. First baseman Tony Clark fell one RBI short of becoming the first Tiger to drive in 100 runs in each of his first three seasons. Kansas City's Carlos Beltran, a leading contender for Rookie of the Year honors, finished with a .293 batting average, 22 homers, 108 RBI, 112 runs scored and 27 stolen bases.
