Jeffries set to enter draft, but he should stay

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

April 7
I've learned from a source that Indiana forward Jared Jeffries will announce Monday his intention to enter the NBA draft.

Jeffries should return to Indiana -- trust me, he isn't ready for the pros.
I believe that Jeffries will be drafted based on potential, but I'm disappointed because I feel he would be better off with another season in college to improve his strength. Jeffries should definitely stay in school.

Hoosiers coach Mike Davis said he expected his super soph to make the jump to the NBA. But Jeffries should return to Indiana -- trust me, he isn't ready for the pros.

Jeffries didn't score in double figures in the Hoosiers' national-championship loss to Maryland or their national-semifinal win over Oklahoma (eight points in each game). He had a tough time against the Terps' interior size. Jeffries isn't physically strong enough yet -- he's just not ready for the NBA, baby!

I love Jeffries' brilliant inside-outside game; he helped lead the fifth-seeded Hoosiers on their super tournament run. But he needs more seasoning and increased strength before he's ready for the NBA.

If you love Hoosiers basketball, you want to see Jeffries return. I hope he reconsiders and goes back to school to have a beautiful junior year in Bloomington.
