Duke need not panic over Williams' injury

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

Jay Williams won't be around to lead Duke in '02-03.
Aug. 30
Any time a team has an injury to a big-time player like Duke point guard Jason Williams, there is a degree of concern.

But from the reports I have heard, Williams will have a cast on his broken left hand for just four to six weeks. If the injury heals properly, he will have plenty of time to be ready for the start of the season.

As long as Williams keeps training and is physically ready, he will be fine. If you are a Duke fan, you shouldn't panic about Williams' injury.

I still feel that the combination of Williams and Chris Duhon will be the best backcourt in America this season. Time is definitely on Williams' side because the injury happened in August. I anticipate he will be fully recovered and ready for the start of the season.
