Battier eyes elusive title
to cap college career

Shane Battier | Duke

Shane Battier
Shane Battier is one of four players who could be picked No. 1 in the draft.
Shane Battier has accomplished just about everything in college basketball.

He is this season's Player of the Year. He has been a tremendous student-athlete and role model for the sport.

And now on Monday night he'd love for nothing less than to cut down the nets and win a national championship to cap off a brilliant career.

Battier is a team leader and can get it done on both ends of the court. Offensively, he had 25 big points vs. Maryland, converting 9-of-11 from the free-throw line.

Battier has to step out and hit the three in the title game -- it's very possible that he'll be guarded by Richard Jefferson, who has done a great job defensively in the tournament.

Coach K has said that Battier is the most complete player he's ever coached. Will his superstar senior be ready for the challenge? I can't wait to find out, baby!
