Arenas' scoring key for 'Cats

Gilbert Arenas
Guard Gilbert Arenas and Arizona have the potential to soar into the Final Four.
During college basketball's tournament Championship Week, some big regular-season games are still played in the Pac-10, which has no postseason tourney.

Arizona wanted to improve its NCAA Tournament seeding, and Lute Olson's team did just that with a 76-75 victory over Stanford on Thursday. Then the Wildcats edged California 78-76 on Saturday to finish the season with a six-game winning streak.

To make a successful run in the Big Dance, the Wildcats need Gilbert Arenas to stay hot. Arenas scored 18 points against California, hitting 4-of-6 trifectas (6-of-11 overall). He led Arizona with 22 points against Stanford, shooting 10-of-18 from the field and 2-of-4 from 3-point land.

Arenas really stepped up his game in the second half of the season. He can flat-out score, defend and spark Olson's club. Arenas has been the most consistent scorer of late for the 'Cats.

He had extra incentive Thursday night after shooting 3-for-14 against the Cardinal in the teams' first meeting.

Arenas and Jason Gardner form one of the best backcourts in America. With Arenas shooting well, the 'Cats can build momentum heading into March Madness.
