Barrett must rise to challenge

In this weekend's Seton Hall-Illinois game, keep an eye on the point guards.

Frank Williams has the extraordinary talent to score. Andre Barrett has the quickness to penetrate and make things happen. Barrett is just one of three key diaper dandies for Seton Hall, joining Eddie Griffin and Marcus Toney-El.

Andre Barrett
Keep an eye on point guard Andre Barrett -- one of three sensational freshmen starters.
In this game, Barrett will be a key, going against a physical and aggressive Illini team. He must create opportunities for his Pirate teammates and stay under control against an experienced opponent. This is by far Seton Hall's strongest foe so far this season.

Barrett has to find Darius Lane open to get off his jumper. On the other side, he draws the tough assignment of slowing down Williams, forcing him into making bad decisions.

Seton Hall wants to play at a pace which forces Williams into turnovers. Williams has matured this year and he not only breaks his defender down to score, but also create opportunities for his teammates.

This will be a time for Barrett to rise and respond to the challenges of the Illini defense.

Kentucky vs. Georgia Tech When the Yellow Jackets upset UCLA at the Wooden Classic, Tony Akins was a key. He had a super game with 27 points in dominating the Bruin guards.

Akins struggled big-time in a loss to Georgia, hitting just one of his 12 shots from the floor. That kind of performance won't get it done against Kentucky.

On the flip side, the Wildcats need more consistent shooting from Keith Bogans and Tayshaun Prince. This one-two combination has to respond for the 'Cats to be a national contender.

If they shoot like they did against Carolina, Kentucky's talent level and defense is good enough to get to the winner's circle.
