Arizona holds down top spot

SENSATIONAL 16 | Nov. 26

Each week, I will list my Sensational 16 team rankings here on my Web site, updated through Monday night's games. This new feature replaces my Dazzling Dozen, and it will coordinate with the Power 16 on ESPN.com's college basketball page.

There are so many good teams out there, it's a good idea to expand from 12 to 16. And as the season moves along, my Sensational 16 will tell you which 16 teams have what it takes, in my opinion, to reach the Sweet 16 come NCAA Tournament time.

Arizona remains No. 1 in my rankings. The Wildcats are so deep, they didn't really miss Salim Stoudamire that much in a big-time win over a solid Western Kentucky team. Kansas, with two wins in the Preseason NIT, remains at No. 2.

There should be some action next week with Florida and Kansas both in the Preseason NIT semifinals. The Maui Invitational has Indiana, Kentucky, Gonzaga and Virginia in the semifinals.

Here's this week's Sensational 16:
1. Arizona
2. Kansas
3. Pittsburgh
4. Texas
5. Alabama
6. Duke
7. Florida
8. Oklahoma
9. Georgia
10. Connecticut
11. Marquette
12. Oregon
13. Kentucky
14. Michigan State
15. Indiana
16. Maryland
