Dick's Dazzling Dozen: 2000-01

Each week, Dick Vitale will delineate (and update) his Dazzling Dozen -- the nation's top 12 teams in the eyes of Dickie V

March 4
As we head into Championship Week, the ACC has the most schools in this week's Dazzling Dozen with three. The Pac-10, Big 12, SEC and Big Ten each have two. The Big East rounds it out with one, surprising Boston College.

Duke's win over North Carolina on Sunday moved the Blue Devils up to No. 3. The Tar Heels, losers of three of their last five, slipped to fourth. Stanford remains on top of the Dazzling Dozen. The Cardinal beat two tough opponents on the road last week, edging USC and taking care of UCLA.

Maryland is back in the Dazzling Dozen after a pair of impressive showings. Gary Williams' Terps won at Duke for the second straight year, then won big-time over Virginia. Remember, the Cavaliers won the first meeting easily, so it was revenge time!
