Kurt Warner's injured right thumb, which he originally sprained in the St. Louis Rams' season opener, caused him problems during the Rams' 48-14 victory over Carolina on Sunday.

A team source said the Rams' quarterback received a cortisone injection Sunday night and the thumb was doing much better Monday. In addition, X-rays taken Sunday night revealed no serious injury.

Rams coach Mike Martz said he will limit Warner's repetitions during Wednesday's practice and Warner should be ready to play Sunday night at New England.

"We are treating it aggressively, and we don't have any real concerns," Martz said.

The thumb bothered Warner only on deep passes, when he had to squeeze the ball harder.
