NEW YORK -- Lennox Lewis had a surprise guest at a public workout Tuesday: Mike Tyson.
As Lewis sparred at Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Terminal to prepare for his Nov. 11 WBC-IBF heavyweight title bout against David Tua, Tyson showed up briefly in the crowd, said Ed Keenan of Media Works, which is handling publicity for the fight.
The two fighters did not meet and Lewis didn't know the former champion was there until he was told.
"I'm glad Mike Tyson graced my workout," Lewis said.
Lewis, however, did not have kind words for Tyson.
"I think the mystique is gone with Tyson," Lewis said.
"My focus is David Tua. If I don't beat David Tua, you can't speak about Tyson."
Tyson said his Oct. 21 fight with Andrew Golota might have been his last, although Tyson may rethink that, said his adviser, Shelly Finkel. Golota quit before the third round, and Finkel said the fight left Tyson "unfulfilled." |
