Clemson's Adams to skip senior year
Associated Press

CLEMSON, S.C. -- All-American linebacker Keith Adams will skip his senior year with Clemson to enter the NFL draft, according to a colleague of Adams' father.

Former NFL defensive lineman Julius Adams was driving to Clemson to be with his son when he makes his announcement at a Tuesday news conference, according to Eric Berry, an associate of the elder Adams at Fort Valley State.

Clemson sports information director Tim Bourret said he did not know what Adams' decision was, but said Adams would speak to reporters after a team meeting. Coach Tommy Bowden said he planned to speak with Adams before the meeting.

The 5-foot-11, 220-pound Adams holds 11 records at Clemson, including 186 tackles and 16 sacks in 1999.

Adams was among three finalists for the Butkus Award, given each year to the best linebacker in the nation by the Orlando Touchdown Club.
