ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia quarterback Quincy Carter, bothered
by a sore left shoulder, wasn't able to practice with the team
Wednesday but did manage some light throwing on the side.
Coach Jim Donnan said Carter is still doubtful for Saturday's
game at Kentucky. Sophomore Cory Phillips directed the first-team
offense for the No. 12 Bulldogs.
"Cory has had a good week running our attack. He seems
relaxed," Donnan said. "It will be an adjustment for him in the
game, but he'll be ready to go."
Carter, who has started 30 straight games for Georgia (5-1, 3-1
Southeastern Conference), was hurt in the fourth quarter of a
victory over Vanderbilt last weekend.
Donnan said sophomore running back DeJuan Green (turf toe) won't
play against Kentucky. The Bulldogs already knew they would be
without running back Musa Smith and defensive tackle Johnathan
Sullivan, who underwent knee surgeries on Tuesday.
During a 90-minute workout in full pads, Georgia also focused on
its rush. Both Kentucky and next week's opponent, No. 7 Florida,
are pass-oriented teams.
"We need to get more pressure on the quarterback," Donnan
said, "especially the next few weeks."
